ATAG
This teeth was found on Azov See shore, Russia. Taxonomic identification and geological time of this find doesn't know. Age of rocks from the late Miocene to the late Pleistocene.
BonuFrailman
I’d lean more towards geological. To play both sides however, you could liken them to mammal teeth.
PrehistoricWonders
It looks like there’s some enamel to me.
hemipristis
I could be convinced that I see enamel and that it's a tooth, though to what I don't know. Shellseeker
Interesting. It seems like there are 2 what evers, ... 2 teeth, 2 geologic concretions,, etc glued together by cementum. Vaguely close to mammoth, mastodon, dugong teeth... On 9/1/2020 at 9:02 AM, ATAG said: This teeth was found on Azov See shore, Russia. Do you find other fossils there also? Thanks fro sharing..... From Middle Pleistocene loam: Mammuthus trogontherii (see my avatar). Panthera (spelaea) fossilis: And late Miocene marine mammals, reptiles ( Phoca sp., Testudines sp. ...) from limestone: Edited September 2, 2020 by ATAG
Shellseeker
Impossible to ever be sure... I myself have found highly polished Mammoth fragments that should individual towers of enamel.. Envision of one of these were broken out and polished. So, anything could happen... especially when you have mammoth fossil teeth in the vicinity. Shellseeker
Quote Like that ? Remember, I am not sure that your fossil is a tooth, but , as others on TFF might tell you, I love to speculate on what might be, and I am very willing to be wrong.... Here is a juvenile mammoth tooth from Florida, I have marked it in yellow to indicate the softer cementum (yellow), and the harder enamel (red). Some % of the Mammoth teeth in the Peace River lay perpendicular to and up into the current. The current contains lots of sand and so during the summer rains there is a faster current the equivalent of industrail strength sand paper that removes some or ALL of the cementum and the polished enamel "plates" fall off one by one. An adult Mammoth generally has 16-17 plates based on species (A Woolly Mammoth might have fewer than a Colombian Mammoth). Here is one of those plates I found in the Peace River. Note the complete lack of cementum. Now, look at the left side of the juvenile tooth above. What happens to those enamel ovals and circles if ALL the cementum is removed... What would they look like? This one gets closer, but still speculating.... 2 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
