I’ve been out hunting three times since my first trip a few weeks ago.

Today my whole family spent a few hours at DSR. It took a long time, but I finally found my first complete trilobite!

Found this...thing...on a previous DSR trip. Picked it up due to the unusual shape and sponge-like texture.

Accidentally broke it open and inside is all crystallized!

This first mess is from DSR. Is that a piece of trilobite to the right?

Another mess from Swamp Road in Morrisville. I liked the dotted thing.

Congratulations on your Trilobite find, Jen! Nice Greenops sp. Well done! :)

Great finds all around.

Those star shapes in the crinoid columnals are my favorite type to find.

Not sure about your first mystery item, but it may be a gastropod encrusted with a bryozoan.

Cephalon and bit of thorax of a Dipleura dekayi trilobite on the first.

Dipleura thoracic segment on the next.

Rhipodomella penelope on the first shell. (Brachiopod)

Swamp Road shell is a gastropod internal mold, probably Bembexia  sp.

The last butterfly shell is a Mucrospirifer mucronatus:)

Nice haul!

Thanks for the IDs! I just love the variety around here. That trilobite was totally unexpected. I hadn’t seen even a piece of one at the spot I was working on. My boys kept running over with things to show me and I was like Charlie Brown: “I got a rock.” Then finally it happened :)

Great greenops for DSR!!! They can be frustrating/heartbreaking depending on the split at that location. Either way I’m always thrilled with trilobites from there. :envy: Top notch!

Ooh, a chapter book!  Isn't it fascinating looking at the world through the eyes of a 7-year-old?!

Congratulations on your complete Greenops find. DSR produces more complete Greenops trilobites than any other place I’ve been. I see you also found a Dipleura dekayi cephalon. DSR and other Windom Shale sites were trilobite’s last hurrah. After that they become fairly rare.

Thank you! Hoping to get back to DSR a time or two to find some more before the snow flies.
