Anyone got an idea of if this is a fossil plant or animal?

The specimen strikes me as a pollen cone of some kind, possibly from Agathis jurassica. What is the size of this specimen? You might want to compare it to Figure 9 of White (1981).

thank you for that information... Figure 9 that I have is quite poor quality... appreciate your help
