sixgill pete
I found this tooth in a bucket of matrix yesterday. It has the hint of cusplets on each shoulder and this kind of throws me. I have my own impression of the I.D. of this tooth but am looking for other opinions. I have thousands of Lee Creek teeth in my collection and have gone through countless gallons of matrix, but this tooth just looks odd to me. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Ludwigia
I'm by far no expert on this subject, but I think I'm seeing a Carcharias, perhaps C.acutissima? Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Top Trilo
Im not an expert either but to me I feel like C.acutissima is too narrow for this tooth. To me it looks like an otodus. To me it looks like an otodus. The first one is C.acutissima, and the second otodus, No Otodus at Lee Creek. The sediments are to young. The other teeth you have pictures could be C. accutisma anterior teeth or even other Carcharias species, possibly even Odontaspis. EDIT: Let me clarify my Otodus remark. The tooth you have pictured as Otodus is a tooth that is much older than what is found at Lee Creek. However megalodons and chubutensis are found there. I refer to them as Carcharocles, however they have been classified as from the Otodus lineage. Some refer to them as Otodus megalodon, so as such there are Otodus found at Lee Creek.
