Petrified wood trip in the Triassic of Pennsylvania

I enjoyed a productive weekend hunting petrified wood in the Triassic age, approximately 210 mya, Newark Supergroup of Pennsylvania. The first 2 photos show a single specimen's 2 sides, illustrating profuse checking in the wood, and a likely rotten dead limb knot at top.

Specimen weighs 19 pounds.

Impressive yield!

Some nice colors there, as well.

Thanks for showing us! :)

Being originally from York, PA, I'm curious where in general terms you founds all that nice petrified word.  Many years ago there was supposed to be a site well near York.  You sure don't need to be specific...ha ha.

Congratulations. You certainly had a very productive weekend collecting pet wood. Beautiful specimens there. We see very little of it in the Northeast. Thanks for sharing yours.

Very nice finds!  19 lbs for a piece of pet wood. Wow!!

I know about where you were. I've been in that area a lot over the years. Used to live in Harrisburg, but now I'm in Hanover PA.

I always found good fossils in Perry and Juniata counties. Thinking about going up there this weekend.
