Lost river coulee

I found the lost river coulee south of manyberries. I hiked for about 5 hours and it was a great landscape to explore. However, I found next to no vertebrate fossils.

Others have insinuated that the fossils are just dripping out of the outcroppings merely off the side of the road. Well, my experience at lost river  twice, is that I use my keenest hunting eye and find rarely a tooth or a complete bone.

One unbroken tooth...amongst the blast which seems like shattered the billions of bones of now turned to shards. I imagine the indigenous peoples probably used the shards of bones as cutting tools

Searched hi and lo... found nothing....I guess all those days in the field learning how to track fossils never paid off.

Lots of marine shells with traces of croc and turtle mixed close by.

I imagine a guy could find shark gar fish and other fossils.

It was a nice day of hiking! Just nice to be out....but that view of the outcroppings and the legends I was told left me disappointed not to track much vertebrate fossil material down.

I keep telling myself to lower my expectations. Well back to self help . Enjoy:)

Imagine having that in your front yard.. :thumbsu:
