Shale fossils, ventura CA

Hello,

 

I found these shale fossils on sulpher mountain hiking trail in Ventura california. I think one might be a fish scale and I have no idea of what the other could be. Any ideas?

Better, up close, detailed pictures of each item individually may help with further ID. 

The second one reminds me of a partial fish skull.

Hi There,

 

I'm used to some of the marine fossils in Topanga canyon, there is shale there where I found an (almost complete) fish and very fragile fish scales. They look very similar to the fossil you have there on top. I'll see if I can't dig up the images.  Here is an image of a similar shaped scale.

 

 

 

Yeah, and as Tim said, the image on the bottom is a bit muddy/dark but looks fishy too.
