Heat and pressure? How much heat and pressure does it take to wrap volcanic ash in melted rock. Here is on i found next to what im cleaning.  Here is a photo of the volcanic. Ash inside of the. Rock. Some of my photos are too big so I cannot post them.

 I don't know exactly how to explain it. But it looks to me like they were crushed in a landslide. Period there is a layer of. Ash over them. Where I am digging. I have found. Geode Is a solid rock on the outside. It is volcanic ash on the inside. The heat and pressure here was immense. There are rocks folded over each other and around each other, twisted all about. It is like they are. Happy when you start pulling it and stretching it and folding it over top of itself. Iam wondering if these are tree sap that has specimens in them

This one looks like a tooth look at the bottom near the point something with a slender toob for a body and round head is trapped in the rock

@JustLucky

Please do not post inquiries about the same items in separate Topics.  It splits the discussion and duplicates responses.

I have combined your posts.  Thanks for your help.

As to the rocks you are finding, study up on ironstone concretions and sandstone concretions.

I also have a vivid imagination, but sometimes  they are just rocks... However, when a rock turns out to be a fossil.... that's both rewarding and exciting!!!!

going hunting with a local fossil club and having more experienced people with you to look at what you are finding will help train your eyes.  I dont want to tell you of the number of times that  i didnt find what was supposed to be at a given place because either i wasn't exactly where i thought I was, or because I didnt recognize what I was looking at of for.  You said at the first post that you are looking at and in metamorphic rocks.  there will be very very few fossils found in metamorphic rock because of the  great heat and pressure and twisting forces that formed those rocks.  Fossils generally dont survive.

This one has the best chance of being a fossil. Have you researched the geology of your area yet?

Not in Kentucky rocks, sorry. Much of that state is Ordovician with some Mississippian. Car-sized turtles are not likely.

Yeah, this one is intriguing.  Could be a fossil, but not a squid fossil.  Can we see some pix form different angles and better lighting.
