val horn
I found this rock when i went to an old triassic quarry where footprints have been found. did not find any footprints, found some little hollow molds of shrimp like creatures (malocostraca- phyllocarids?) ( orange is the impression of the hollow) and a couple of these cow pat shaped rocks. Is it just geological?
Fossildude19
First picture is too blurry to make anything out. Second one would need to be looked at through a microscope or hand lens to see if there are any recognizable inclusions. @GeschWhat @Carl Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM - APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." GeschWhat
Hard to tell, but I don't recognize the inclusions - guessing they are mineral. I don't see anything definitive. Can you take a close-up of the surface, especially if there is a place where it is broken/chipped? 2 Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo
val horn
could not find much of a cracked area to look at, so i hit it with a hammer and chisel on one of the internal lines. I am enclosing the pictures but can not say that I see anything hopefull in them. So the rock much not be full of S**t, and may just end up in the rock garden. Please let me know what you see. Carl
I agree with Lori: very hard to say with this one. But I'm not getting a particularly strong coprolite vibe from it.
Plax
I'd google "Paul Olson, Triassic" and start looking at the scientific literature related to your site. I'm getting a fossil vibe from this rock but nothing I know enough about to make a good comment. Any chance it's a rip up clast from neighboring Cambrian rocks? The way it's rounded am guessing it is a reworked clast or a stream bed find.

val horn
thank you for your thoughts and efforts. Clearly a wet environment from the tracks that are known (but not found by me) to the molds of the little shrimp like creatures. I will take a look at the suggested article.
