This was found near the Farmdale Geologic Exposure, and I am having a heck of a time identifying it; I'm used to your typical bryozoa, crinoid, and brachiopod - not this!

The inner, u-shaped part looks biological, and is packed with a more clay-sourced material around it, and perhaps inside? I've taken numerous pictures to try to give a full look at this weird find. The outermost rock layer can flake off of picked.

I'm not even 100% convinced it's a fossil, but i'm having trouble coming up with what in the world it could be. Please help me out!

Looks bovid to me, possibly cow.

As in, not fossil, just cow bone? Thanks for your help!

As in possible partial cow tooth.

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

Ah, gotcha! Thank you so much. Once I started looking up that, I was able to find a lot (mostly from this site).

So is this specimen petrified or just modern, domesticated cow tooth? It appears petrified to my untrained senses, but I'm still learning.

Thoughts?
