Columbian Mammoth Tooth Cleaning and Preserving

Hello

So a while back I came into the possession of a Columbian Mammoth Tooth.

As you can see it's in need of a clean and maybe preserving, which I have never done and so I'd like some advice.

Feel free to treat me like an idiot as I have never done this befor.

P.S. I cannot upload anything to the Gallery section either.

Could you download it directly to the forum, I can’t see.

Sorry about that, I've re-edited is so everyone can see.

No problem... I don’t personally know much about that type of stuff, but @Harry Pristis deals with that type of stuff sometimes.

Gallery privileges are a delayed permission.

After a reasonable number of substantive posts, you will be able to create a Gallery.

(We had to institute this to avoid spammers.)

In the mean time, resize your photos by cropping, and using an online photo editor to resize your items to 800x600.

That seems to work well for loading multiple pictures.

If you get an out of space message, refresh your browser.  ;)

I'm not sure about cleaning but as far as preserving the use of paraloid is highly recommended and there are many posts about it on the forum. Here's the basics.

Dissolve paraloid B-72 in acetone in a ratio of 1 to 50 based on weight. Soak dry fossil into paraloid until bubbling stops. Then set it on a piece of cardboard out in the sun until it dries.
