So I have this rock.....

I use to find crinoid fossils by the hundreds when i was a kid, though I thought that they were worm fossils. No such thing as Google or even home computers then.

I found this fossil about a year ago and if it is truly a crinoid, it is without a doubt the largest that I have seen.

Can't see any signs of a lumen or articulation facets and what should be the latus on each of the columnals doesn't look right.

I think this is eroded banded limestone.

I agree that there are no indications of this being a crinoid. Trace fossil may be a possibility, but it would difficult to prove.

Concretion or ground water (spring) vent are things to consider as well.

Can we see the bottom of the item?

It reminds me of Platycrinites , but I'm not sure that they got that large.

We had a discussion on here about enlarged fossils a while back. Seems they actually grow or popcorn in the sediment. Think the phenomenon is illustrated in Macfall's Fossils for Amateurs which I don't have handy. Is a big straight cephalopod a possibility?
