Ordovician Fossils in the Tug Hill Plateau

Nautiloid

Recommended Posts

Greetings everybody!

While I was on my fishing trip last weekend I took some time to look for fossils. I collected at a couple of creeks exposing the Middle Ordovician Trenton Group in North-Central NY. I found lots of trilo-bits and other goodies!

Enjoy :)

Some unidentified Calymenid. It’s pretty beat up but it’s probably a new species for me!

Here are a couple of Isotelus free cheeks. One is from a tiny juvenile and the other is from a much larger, mature individual.

And here are a couple of Isotelus pygidia.

Here are a couple pieces of really large Isotelus!

This is a piece of a pygidium from quite a large individual.

Here is a trilobite chunk that has what I assume is chain coral growing on it.

There were also a couple of amazing fossils I saw that I decided not to collect. The first one is a HUGE Isotelus pygidium and the second is a really large orthocone. CBACEA8D-843C-4E24-AFE7-6C41C0E9E8D4.thumb.jpeg.99248308909dadb0629751a8454b315a.jpeg3D978C13-E133-4C70-9884-52544CF3B01E.thumb.jpeg.8d6636291b247dc7503eeaf0c8a73db8.jpeg
