A theropod foot, hope to find a bargain

Complete large sclerocephalus

Dicisonia or other endiacaran biota

Iguanodon tooth

Theropod tooth from Laos

Tyrannosaurus rex tooth

Large and high quality dino footprint

Large permian teeth

Neovenator tooth

Tarbosaurus tooth

Torvosaurus tooth

Anzu claw

Kryptos tooth

Eocarcharia tooth

Protoceratops tooth

1. Decent megalodon tooth (whole and not too worn, size isn't really a factor yet)

Since I compiled the above list back in 2020 I have been lucky to tick a few of those off the wish list:

I’d also like to add the below to the rest of the teeth I haven’t yet acquired:

 

A larger Torvosaurus tooth

A larger Camarasaurus tooth

A nice JRF tyrannosaur tooth

For me, any chance to go fossil hunting is amazing and every fossil is precious, but of the ones that would be at the top of my list to go and hunt for right now, some I have in mind:

 

>A large (5 inches or more) Megalodon tooth

>Asaphid trilobites, in particular Isotelus

>Any kind of vertebrate mandible, especially with teeth still in place

>Ammonites from the Jurassic Coast in the UK

>In-situ bivalves and brachiopods

>Echinoids of any kind

>Eurypterids

 

This is far from an exhaustive list for me, but those are some of the things that immediately came to mind. If I'm headed somewhere and I know that the geology of a particular area would be promising in terms of fossil hunting, I'll make room on the list for whatever might be there, lol.

Hmm... I could've sworn that I once added my wishlist here. But it seems not. So here it is:

1. 3D preserved ichthyosaur skull
2. US (brachauchenine) pliosaur tooth
3. Goulmima polycotylid skull
4. Pliosaur jaw section with tooth/teeth
5. Swedish plesiosaur tooth, preferably polycotylid or polycotylid and elasmosaur both
6. UK mosasaur teeth
7. Swedish mossasaur teeth
8. Triassic ichthyosaur jaw with tribodont dentition
9. Megalania tooth
10. US Globidens mosasaur tooth (currently only got a fragment of one)

@grandpa Oh yeah, I feel very similar, too. The fossils just feel even more rewarding when you are the one that originally unearthed it, becoming the first pair of eyes in millions of years to see it.

My fossil wish list includes things I'd like to find, but also items that I will undoubtably have to purchase, as I doubt I will ever find them.  Many show up on others' lists, I have noticed:

 

• Smilodon canine
• Eurypterid, complete or near complete
• An identifiable piece of Dunkleosteus
• Ceratosaur tooth (a favorite critter from when I was a child)
• Eremotherium or Megatherium claw
• Ankylosaur dermal scute
• Pachycephalosaur 'spike'
• Triceratops horn
• Mammoth tusk
• Diplocaulus skull (hey, if you're gonna dream...)

Happy to report that my wishes have been met and would like to see it continue for many more years.

wish-list, easy:

 

- cool vertebrate-fossils, if possible unprepped, fishes, turtles, lizards, pteros, mammals..., doesn´t matter. Devonian up to middle neogene

- burgess-material and unprepped chengjiang

- birds from green-river-fm

- solnhofen, unprepped cool ones

 

and, last but not least... lot of money to buy all

LOL!! I nearly outperformed myself in 2021 in discovering new fossil sites! And found a good, new leaf site in 2022 which attracted a professional.

 

Nothing to change since Dec. 2020, just let keep it going!

Well, a wishlist should be full of stretch goals, shouldn't it

my wish list... to retire so I can have more time for personal fossil hunts and prepping and even cataloging.  My summer is already so full I will be doing most of my personal collecting during some of the rainier parts of the year, which in general means, don't go out there in the mud.  But I have a few new sites found last summer that I want to keep exploring... mostly Eocene stuff in southwestern Wyoming, and maybe put some time into some Lance Fm dinosaur bone collecting.

 

Meanwhile for anyone taking notes, we have had the first real winter here in Casper that I have seen in my 18 years here...the roads have been snowy in town since Jan 3rd, and we are getting anther foot today.  I mention this because I have often been out fossiling in January.... this year there is no way.
