Any idea about this one? - Norfolk, UK

I wondered if anyone might be able to help with this oddity. It's about 4-5 cm long, and was found on the beach at Wells-Next-the-Sea in North Norfolk, UK.

Exciting dinosaur brain? Mundane piece of flint? Put me out of my misery, please!

Other views might help - ends, back, front, top, and bottom.

I think this is geologic in nature - but it could be some water worn man made item.

Thank you, Tim, Much appreciated. Here are a couple of shots using a scanner (which has enhanced the colour a bit too much):

Looks chert ish to me. I'm not sure what the pattern is, but it appears to be more of a stain.

Thanks Rockwood. The patterning is odd - it does appear to have been worn away to reveal the duller layer underneath.
