val horn Posted November 17, 2020 Share Posted November 17, 2020 In a late cretaceous marine formation I found two little pieces of jaw. I would like help in id if possible. One is maybe 2.5 cm in length and the other 3 cm, both have the ragged texture of almost everything from this site. I wonder (hope) if the upper is croc, and if the lower is a small mosasaur. It does not match the typical fish jaws that I find because of the sharp curve to the teeth. Help and ideas will be appreciated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

val horn Posted November 17, 2020 Author Share Posted November 17, 2020 Thanks JPC, It is not the most typical fish jaw that I find, but aside from wishful thinking, I dont see evidence of tooth sockets and/or unerupted teeth, so fish it is. GPayton Posted November 23, 2020 Share Posted November 23, 2020 It's a definitely a stretch trying to attach an ID to either of these since fish bones look very similar and both are missing the teeth needed to show any distinct diagnostic features, but for the jaw with three teeth I would say it looks very similar to Enchodus.
