Titan
I found this a while back amidst the red-zone in the Ozan. I'm not sure whether to label it as Globidens sp. or Brachychampsa sp. I'm leaning towards Globidens sp. but would like to know what y'all thought. @JohnJ Apologies in advance about the scale switching back and forth got distracted whilst photographing. Top view (scale in mm): What looks like feeding wear on the (lingual?) side (scale in inches): Feeding wear (within red indicator line) labial? side: Basal: Thanks in advance, - James
Al Dente
I’m not convinced that this is a tooth. To me it looks like a phosphate pebble.
MarcoSr
I agree with Eric. The shape is very suggestive but the texture just doesn't look right. JohnJ
@Titan James, see if you can clean the 'underside' a bit more and get another sharp image. The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
siteseer
I don't see any detail where the enamel would be that would even suggest Globidens. If it is a tooth, it may be too worn for an ID at the genus level.
Titan
@Al Dente I think you're right. Thanks for the input. @MarcoSr thanks for weighing in. The shape had me convinced. @JohnJ Here you go. Not seeing any enamel detail but it is very suggestive. Thanks for taking a look! @siteseer Thanks for your input. The preservation is a little different in the Ozan from where these were collected, but I agree. I thought it was similar enough in shape to warrant further investigation. I think pareidolia got the better of me . Here's some Brachychampsa teeth from an online retailer that had me thinking I may have the same thing.
JohnJ
I don't see anything that definitively identifies this as a tooth; but I probably would have brought it home for microscopic inspection too. 2 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
