But in the second pic, I can see a quite nice texture: Bright fields surrounded by darker rims. I could be nice, when cut and polished. The heaviness might come from the fact that is composed of another minerals then the usual quartz, feldpar, calcite, clay minerals, micas. Dolomite, magnesite, barite come to my mind. It could also contain some sulfides. The darker areas of the fresh break in the first pic remind me somewhat of weathered galena or sphalerite. What happens when you scratch this area with a nail? All in all, it could be a waterworn specimen of a hydrothermal vein. Was it collected somewhere near the famous silver mines in Idaho?
