Hello,

I found this piece on a beach in west Kerry Ireland. It is on what I believe to be a piece of limestone and I am wondering if it is an actual fossil or just a crystalline structure in the rock and if it’s a fossil which one would it be?

Thank You

Welcome to the forum! It is indeed a fossil, a vertical section through a piece of crinoid stem, from the Carboniferous.

Thank You! I was always interested in fossils but hadn’t time to go hunting so spotted this out of random on my walk. Thanks again!
