Help me ID a New Mexico fossil

Leesaa

Recommended Posts

I found this recently in Rio Rancho New Mexico. It looks a bit like a coprolite, or maybe an encased ? ammonite type shell. The top part looks very different than the base that has fossils visible. I am not sure if they just melded together or are part of the same thing.

Can I tumble it? Or should I cut it?

What would you do?

Help me ID it please.

My pics are too big, so I will upload more as comments.

Thank you

Leesaa

It keeps saying I can not submit more. How do other people submit more photos? These 2 are hardly enough to see it :(

Hmmm, I seem to be able to edit and add more pics.

Those are all different views of the same piece. What does it appear to be ?

Thank you for any information and suggestions.

Can't be positive but it (and most of your current pieces) appear to be microcrystalline quartz / agate nodules. I find a ton of these in Arizona and they look quite similar. As for 1 question you asked on another post, they can be cut and polished beautifully (and sometimes have hollows, think geode)

I concur with Sjfriend.

In regards to the image upload thing, you can refresh/go back to the home page and then return to the thread to post more images.
