I came across a large section of these types of fossils on a mountain in Las Vegas but cannot figure out what they are...anyone seen these before? Jackson g Posted December 21, 2020 Share Posted December 21, 2020 They look like silicified cross sections of solitary rugosa corals. So your specimens are missing most of the coral fossil, probably due to weathering. Here are a couple photos of a silicified rugose coral I found that's removed from matrix and split in half, naturally.
