Leptoceratops tooth?

Compy

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am considering to buy this tooth for my collection.
According to the seller it is a Leptoceratops from the Lance Creek formation, North-Central Niobrara County, Eastern Wyoming.

As I am not very familiar with such teeth I would like to check with you guys here.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

It looks like a Leptoceratops tooth because it only has a single root protruding down. Also, it’s not from the Lance Creek Formation but the Lance formation. A common misconception among fossil sellers.

I think Lept is a good guess.  Closer up photos would help.  And, yes, it is called the Lance Formation, not Lance Creek.  So if you buy it, you can label it correctly.
