Hey! I would really appreciate it if you could help me id this fossil - I believe it is a shark tooth, but I'm not too sure as I am completely new to this.  It is 27mm long.  Would you be able to tell me what class/family/genus/time period it's from?

Thanks in advance!

Where is it from?

Is this a personal find, or a purchase/gift?

Looks like a sand tiger shark tooth? Maybe Carcharias tingitana ?

Hey Tim,

Thanks for your reply :) I don't actually have any info about its locality - I traded it with a friend.  Yes, it could be a sand tiger shark tooth - it's certainly quite small

I see some distinct striations so I'm thinking maybe Striatolamia or Scapanorhynchus. It's unfortunate that you don't have any locality info because that's the best way to narrow down these teeth.
