Here are a few recent fossil finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. Comments, corrections or identification would be greatly appreciated. I believe the first image is a conifer pollen cone.

I have found this type of fossil in black shale before, but much smaller markings. This one however looks a bit like the stem of a larger plant.

Paul,

I don't see any scale here, or sizes listed.
Any chance of getting those?

First and last two items are nothing I have seen before.  Pretty interesting though.  :headscratch::shrug:

Second item is Brachyphyllum sp.

Carbonization has worn off some of the scale leaves.

More Brachyphyllum bits, I think.

I think this may be a terminal end of a Brachyphyllum, although not sure.

Thank you Tim for your thoughts and identifications! I apologize for not including something for scale; it will not happen again. The Brachyphyllum that you alluded to are about the size of a US penny. The first and last image about the size of a US quarter. The black shale piece with nodules is roughly 3 inches long, by 2 inches wide. Thanks again for outlining the important features!
