PachytheDino
Found this Fossil at Big Brook in New Jersey. It is a marine fossil site and I was wondering what this object is. It has the texture of a tooth or fossilized material. The object has a cone shape with a pointy tip at the end. On the inside, the object has lines and indents running down the side in 1 direction Images Edited January 11, 2021 by PachytheDino

LabRatKing
Seen a few of these around here...seem to remember these are shark coprolites. That spiral. (Of course then I click on the linked thread above and yep, that's the thread I remember.)

Coco
Hi, Washington DC or Columbia ? I guess itn't the same. If it's a shark coprolite, why is it hollow ? Coco Think of it as Washington City, District of Columbia, USA. It is a city-state in a country of states...no worries, most folks here don't understand it either since it is actually located in the state of Maryland on the border of Virginia. In reality, this oddity is the result of the intent for the National capitol to be neutral by being its own entity, thus preventing any one state from gaining political power over others for hosting the capitol. These days, that really doesn't mean anything anymore. This coprolite is hollow as one end has broken off and the softer core has eroded away. Plax
let us see a good pic of the end with the cavity. Could be a badly broken and decorticated mosasaur tooth.
erose
I would put this in my box labeled "possible bone fragment" The cone shape and hollow core would also suggest tooth, but there is no enamel visible. So I would go with bone fragment. Other possibilities are wood fragment and phosphatic nodule. I don't see the tell-tale spiral of a coprolite. My 2 cents.... The Jersey Devil
Agreed with partial coprolite. “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
