PODIGGER
Last spring I found the below bone "ball joint" in the Peace River, FL. I consolidated it for preservation and have been trying to come up with a possible species ID ever since. I think I have narrowed it down to being the tip of a mammal humerus, but can't seem to get any further. Part of the problem is I can't find any photos or diagrams that provide measurements for the "ball joint" of any specimens I have looked at. All have overall measurements for the humerus but nothing focused on the joint. Measurements on the joint: Overall top of the "ball" = 60mm x 45mm Bone measures 55mm tall by 45mm wide Fits very comfortably into the palm of my hand and would make a great and interesting top for a cane. Any ideas on species would be appreciated, Thanks!
Earendil
I can't help you, but that would look good on a cane! "Its webs of living gauze no more unfurl; Wrecked is the ship of pearl! PODIGGER
Thanks yardrockpaleo. If I can't come up with an ID that's what it will be!
