Taiwan Shark Teeth

Hi,

Are there any shark teeth described from localities in Taiwan? I found one for sale, a Carcharhinid from Yujing. However, I cannot find anything of the sort in the literature. I'd appreciate any information.

Thank you,

Bellamy

Edit:

"Fish fossils of Taiwan: a review and prospection" in Historical Biology notes Carcharhinus sp. from Taiwan. Any further information would be wonderful, especially if any of those have been described.

Hi,

Theres not much info on fossils found in Taiwan. Shark teeth have been found here, though.  The Jia-xian Sih-de Fossil Forest has had marine fossils including shark teeth found there--- its Miocene in age.

Yujing has had mainly Cetacean fossils found there. The formation is called Liuchungchi Formation, and I believe its late pliocene to eary pleistocene.

There is a museum, Tainan Fossil Park who might be able to take a look at the tooth

Thank you for the info, I'll contact the Museum to look at the tooth and maybe they can identify it :)
