Found in Charleston, SC (pleistocene). Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum..

It looks like a really odd vertebra.  Can we see photos of the ends and the other side ? I am thinking lizard or snake

Snakes have ball and socket ends to their verts, as do some lizards.  I do not know what this is, but it is an odd vertebra indeed.

Hi Ksenia! What makes you think this is Pleistocene? My guess is modern - most of the Pleistocene material here is black. My suspicion is a terrestrial mammal caudal vertebra.

this has been identified as dasypas bellus vertebrae (armadillo). This is in fact Pleistocene, Wando formation - from what I was told (not my find). Thanks for your replies!
