Rumpeltroll
I was wondering if someone knows if this is a fossil. Since it might just be a mineral? Anyway it weights 1 kg so its heavy, and also found in the Philippines. Any guess or answer is appreciated
Brett Breakin' Rocks
Hi There, Welcome to the forum. Can we get more shots of the object. From other angles ? Curious if it might be tooth files from a mammoth or something similar. Cheers, Brett 9 hours ago, Rumpeltroll said: Any guess or answer is appreciated
Rumpeltroll
Sadly not in my possession, so will take some time to get more photos One said it might be worm tube fossil, but can't find any pictures on the net that looks similiar to that. Teeth was also something I thought it might be originally, but I am a noob/average Joe on these things Edited January 28, 2021 by Rumpeltroll
Ludwigia
My first thought was also partial mammoth tooth, but like Brett says, we need some other views of the object and also information to stratigraphy and precise location.. abyssunder
The pictures above may be very convincing for a mammoth molar if we are seeing it from the root side. hemipristis
Looks like a mammoth or stegodon tooth 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' George Santayana
BellamyBlake
I would say Mammoth but more shots would be ideal; you also mentioned it was found in the Philippines, and as far as I know Mammoths aren't found there. Stegodon luzonensis, however, appears to have been, though this doesn't look Stegodon to me.
Rumpeltroll
Yeah Wholly mammoths never lived in the Philipinnes, Just about Europe and Russia only. But maybe some hairless version of Mammoth lived in Ph? It was found on the Mindanao Island, in the Misamis Occidential municipality
