1/2 Hour Northeast Texas Lucky Hunt!

I took a one hour detour on my way home from work today and hit a tiny secluded creek that I hunt on occasion. I only had 30 minutes to hunt but I walked up on nice little mosasaur tooth and a killer hundred year old whiskey bottle in great shape.

Nice combo-hunt!

Does the top of the bottle indicate that the lip was added on in a separate step after being blown in a mold (applied finish)? My meager understanding of bottle production would lead me to believe that it would date from before about 1910 when bottle making machines took over from hand-crafted bottles increasing the number of bottles produced a day by orders of magnitude (and simultaneously decreasing their rarity and worth). Since your bottle has some lettering embossed on it you might be able to do an internet search and determine more about the bottle and a closer idea of its production date.

Old glass is fun to find and I still have the old bottle that I found on the same day as my mammoth tooth--and it's sitting on the shelf below the very same tooth. ;)

Cheers.
