Some sort of Fish material? Bone fragments? (Missouri)

Hello! I have opened this structure a long time ago and I always wondered what it could be since it seemed like bone. I have other small sized bony structures, most that I assume are coprolites of some sort and I would love to know what this is!

I can't quite get a grip on the texture, but it does resemble the inside of a skull, likely fish.

To be truthful I did not wish to claim it could be a skull as I did notice the resemblance but I did not want to assume, here are some more images if it helps!

I just happen to be re reading The Rise of Fishes. Looks close enough to some skulls pictured for me to stay in the game with the same hand.

We have some far more experienced members who can be summonsed if need be. Give it time.

My first impression was skull as well, but,  being a cross section, I am not sure what more can be said about it.

Maybe @jdp  can say something more definitive?

Skull seems right. Hard to tell what kind of animal it belongs to. Realistically this needs to go into a CT scanner.

Now there's a need, to be. :)

Glad to see this attracting some attention.
