Just a helpful revision for the labels: Phacops rana milleri = Eldredgeops rana milleri. All trilobites of the Phacops genus in North America were reclassified.

As an added bonus to the specimen you pictured here, E. rana milleri became the type species for the reassigned genus in the work of Struve:

Struve, W. (1990). Paläozoologie III (1986–1990). Courier Forschung- sinstitut Senckenberg 127:251-279

Very nice.:)

Species names shouldn't be capitalized, so Olenellus clarki, for example, not Olenellus Clarki.

My understanding is that  the genus Olenellus has been changed to Mesonacis (aka. Mesonacis fremonti).. @Kane have you heard this ?  I saw it updated on the Trilobites of the Marble mountains page. A  great resource BTW.

I think you are correct about this species, but ,as I understand it, Olenellus was a bucket taxon and while many species within it have been assigned to other / new genera, the genus itself is still valid and contains several species.

I believe Olenellus clarki is still correct, but I am probably wrong.

Oh yes, my apologies ..   fremonti (Mesonacis fremonti) was the only one I was aware of had been placed in a new genus ?  I just wasn't sure how many had shuffled.

Thanks Adam !

Brett

Olenellus is still a valid genus.  Olenellus fremonti Walcott 1910 was reclassified Mesonacis fremonti by Resser 1928.  It was later reclassified "Fremontia" by Raw 1936, and many authors have applied each of these various names over the years.  "Olenellus fremonti" and "Fremontia fremonti" are synonyms of Mesonacis fremonti
