Hello everyone, I found these two pieces in Galveston, Texas and I am looking for someone to help me ID them. I am not well versed in fossils so I came to this site for help. Thanks!

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum .. these look like facial bones from a bony fish. Not sure which, but here is an image showing the location on the face/cranium.

For comparison this is a tuna:

Cheers,

Brett

Edit: I always have a hard time distinguishing between the Operculum and preoperculum. I'd gander it's probably a preoperculum from an unknown fish. Maybe someone from that area can pinpoint the fish. The lighter one you have (lighter in color) may be modern btw. I believe this example below is from the Tilapia family. So less robust than your example.
