Some Brachiopod/Bivalves and Coral

Hello, I have personally collected these far from perfect samples on some hiking trips and from around the field I work in.

I have included a Die in each picture that is 2cm³, and have the corresponding number on the die to each specimen/picture.

Any help with ID would be cool! Thanks in advance!

1. Stromatolites?

Devonian - Palliser FM.

2. Bryozoan?

Devonian - Palliser FM

3. ?Buchia?

Cretaceous - FM unknown could be Three possibilities and I am not familiar enough with how the formations lay for the elevations I was at. Bivalves were found in two very different locations but still I believe Cretaceous.

4. Another tiny bivalve from same area as above.

5. A Brachiopod of some genus? Could be Cretaceous or Jurassic. Found in an area right where the line is drawn for those ages.

This is the one I'm most interested in although it may only be a partial.

6. Horn coral but is there anything else noticeable with it? I see this hard grey bit, to the left of the coral, with a hole? I don't know, may be nothing.

Thanks for looking and for whatever suggestions any may have. Cheers :)

The first two look like corals to me. I don't know enough of your region/time period to give a more specific ID. I don't think those bivalves look like Buchia but I couldn't say what they are.

The big brachiopod looks more Paleozoic than Cretaceous - it actually looks a lot like ones I collected 1.5 yrs ago at a Devonian site in the Bull River Valley - I wonder if it was Palliser Fm as well? (I'm not sure what the formation was, I guess they weren't sure, and we didn't have any good geo maps of that area).

Thanks for the insight! I'll do more research on the first two.

The big brachiopod - meaning #5? It could very well be Paleozoic. Being from Northern BC, I find the geological maps are very lacking for my area.

Oh, way up there could be completely different from the stuff in the Kootenays. But that big brach does look Devonian, yes, though I stand to be corrected.
