Limburg (NL) fossils

Fossilsforever

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Some photo's of my recent fossil hunting trips in the Netherlands (Limburg).

All fossils are 73-66 and/or 73-69 million years old (late late Campanian, early Maastrichtien).

Mainly belemnites (belemnitella and belemnella sp.), 3 sea urchin genus Echinocorys sp. (my girlfriends top find:thumbsu:), one horse tooth (Equus sp.) a pipe and a bone (don't know species).

Also on the first photo one trace fossil (ghost shrimp/crab) and one belemnite with holes.

Kind regards,

Fossilsforever

:thumbsu:Yeah, a smoking dinosaur!

The pipe is interesting. I have searched some info about it.

The symbol on it is a pope (Cornelius) and three letters are visible C O R N. (could be Corneli Münster, Aachen). Think 1900's.

The animal pelvis... don't know which animal.

The sea urchins on the first photo are from a earlier trip (2 x Echinocorys scutata/Echinocorys sp.). The most common is E. scutata (Leske, 1778).

The fossil on the left (first photo) is a part of a sea urchin.

Mostly internal molds/casts/imprints ('vuursteenkern'/Steinkern in flint) of the original fossil (original armor plates/material are gone).
