Mainefossils
Fossil forum, This is yet another fossil from the Leighton Fm, Maine, which is Silurian. I have found multiple specimens of this species, but none with such exceptionally preserved hinge spines. I think that it is in the genus Chonetes, maybe even Chonetes bastini, which is known from this formation, but I am not sure. Here are some pictures of it (internal molds on the left, external on the right): 1 The more I learn, the more I find that I know nothing. Misha
Wow! That is beautiful the spines and surface detail is amazing. I didn't know this kind of stuff was found in Maine. Do you have any other fossils from this formation?

I've been tagging them with "Mainefossils" and "Leighton formation". I hope to continue posting as I keep going through my samples. 1 The more I learn, the more I find that I know nothing.
