White plaster like on chert

Looks like calcite on quartzite. We see a lot of this in Millard county Utah and other fossil sites.

 

Under a black light, you may find these glow orange.

I'm curious about what is in the area circled in red.

That is a rugose coral...which I missed earlier...so calcite on chert rather than quartzite!

Looks more like limestone than chert.

Could be caliche, quick lime or oxidized surface on chert.

 

I agree; this is not chert. It's likely limestone with "cherty" inclusions and calcareous encrustations.
