Irish River Fossil?

I have no idea if this is even a fossil, but this looks unlike any rock I’ve ever seen and I’d really appreciate some clarification on what it could be?

I’m pretty sure I found it in a river near Scariff, County Clare, Ireland.

Reminds me of slag from metal processing but could easily be wrong

Makes sense,  there was quite a bit of iron working in the Scariff area in the past

I think you‘re right, I just compared it with images of other slags and they do look very similar, and given the location that seems very plausible
