This Bivalve is from the Middle Devonian, near Seneca Lake in NYS.  Could this be Modiella pygmaea?

Thanks

Greg

Wow you are just like me ha. My Minnesota book is also full of typo, mistakes, etc. Usually better to go with genus name first then try to exhaust all other options for species. Took me 5 years or so just to get closer and closer with my ordovician fossil. Plus just like you, internet is often terrible and its best to just try to goggle formation names, etc and hope for documents to sift through.

It's been suggested that I look under the name Actinopteria.  Which after about the 3rd time looking at the in Linsely's book I began to wonder about.  But, wasn't sure because I hadn't come across a "wing".  This is the closest I could get...thinking it might be misshaped.  The angle of the curves on it's right side is what I couldn't reconcile.

Thanks

Greg
