Temporal Bone?

I think this is part of a temporal bone.  It's approximately 2 x 2 x 2 inches. 

Not expecting a taxonomic identification, I'm just hoping someone can recognize and point out a couple osteological landmarks for me so I can orient myself with respect to adjacent cranial bones and know if I should be comparing it at the left or right side of the skull as I look for a match.

It is an earbone. Mammoth, Mastodon... some type of Proboscidean
