Kurt Komoda
ound this vertebra yesterday at Big Brook. Concave on both sides, but one side is smaller than the other, giving it the shape of a truncated cone. If you need other views or macros, please let me know. Manticocerasman
looks like a shark vert to me. 1 1 growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
Kurt Komoda
I initially thought that, too, but it doesn’t have the two opening on the top and bottom for the hemal and neural arches. Maybe it’s just so worn down that they’re gone?
The Jersey Devil
That's an awesome vert, really nice size for the area. It would be nice to see more pictures, a little less zoomed in and straight-on shots. “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
Kurt Komoda
I can take more shots but be sure to check out the .mov file I attached. It gives a pretty good tumbling view of it.
The Jersey Devil
I see the file now. It is definitely a Chondrichthyan vert. It could be a shark or sawfish vert, but I think the wear on the sides makes it unidentifiable. 2 “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
Kurt Komoda
Thank you so much for your time! I was about to post new photos, but I based on your answer, I don't think they'd provide any new information.
