Stacey weigert
I can't remember exactly where or when I acquired this , but I think I found in second hand store a few years back. Thought it was petrified wood but found images of eggs and thought maybe, it's not wood after all. Me and my rock hunting buddies would really like to know. Top Trilo
More pictures are needed to tell but I believe it is petrified wood. Definitely not an egg, search dinosaur eggs online and compare the difference and you will notice an eggshell which yours lacks and a different shape. What lead you to the conclusion its not wood? “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. Thomas.Dodson
It's difficult to tell exactly what it is from this picture but it's not an egg. More in focus images of multiple angles and a scale will help but I'm guessing it's geologic.

Rockwood
Looks like pyrite, or one of the iron/sulfur minerals as a crust. The core does need a closer inspection though. Edited March 29, 2021 by Rockwood
Ludwigia
I'll go along with Rockwood. Some kind of sulfide ore methinks. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
