Stratford hall mini megalodon

For the past few days I’ve had very little sleep. I thought that I had messed up sleeping way past the low tide time, but in hindsight that Meg was gonna be mines anyways so it really didn’t matter. It’s been a while since I’ve collected some good material, It’s been a bit of a hit and miss so far but I think my luck is finally starting to turn over. I’ve been going to this Paleocene spot a lot lately so I figure it would be nice to change thing up a bit. Anyways, from the title you guys can probably infer that I’ve found my first Meg of 2021 which I’m pretty happy about because I found none last year. Anyways, I also found a posterior mako, some nice snaggles, a thresher, croc tooth, puffer fish mouth plate, a retroflexis mako tooth, my largest bull shark tooth to date, and a crab carapace to top it all off. Probably one of my most productive days on this small stretch of beach, I’m really looking forward to April 17 when I can go past the ropes (on a guided trip I don’t do trespassing) here’s the spoils from yesterday:

Without my large screen I’d get maybe a quarter of this.016EC067-986E-454D-A68A-1BA4EF1D4617.thumb.jpeg.7f5ecc63b39ad1fac10029321e3cf4cc.jpeg4FBC4628-75AB-4460-9591-D80745ECEA68.thumb.jpeg.cf4161e7d355034b572dc3497557d727.jpegsome of the best teeth I got from this small beach. Biggest tooth by far is that gigantic bull shark.B7A6171A-72DD-434E-AAD2-2203E8E4BDCA.thumb.jpeg.a981c663c728c61d3296a3e9f2a3c9de.jpeg9C361445-EBFB-4A34-A727-7AD0308911F7.thumb.jpeg.44b1ffb0e54cb532f2815b04e330b470.jpegpictures of the mini megalodon. Yes, I know it looks like a bull shark tooth but the root is thicker than the bull sharks I found today and it has a very worn bourlette on it. But I assure you it’s a Meg (unless it isn’t and I’m told otherwise)

good trip all around! Can’t wait to come back here soon.

Maybe better pictures would help? Are there serrations? The root doesn’t look right for meg... but it is damaged so maybe I’m not seeing it ... nice finds! Love Stratford!

Yes there’s serrations. I know what it looks like but compared to the other teeth this one has a thicker complexion and it’s just different then my other bulls. That’s why I’m confident that makes what it is.

Clearer pictures of the Meg would help, especially of the bourlette. Nice finds!

Ok fair enough, I’ll do my best.68A094E1-F4EC-47AE-BAAB-ED9DE38709F1.thumb.jpeg.b7e5b4ed69304a9379a52256f08b4f90.jpeg34C66160-2299-4399-9A7C-3D8D6A9C8DDD.thumb.jpeg.e01bd55cb9d93199e4f6ce6f6b078fda.jpegthis is a side by side comparison to the alleged Meg on the right, and a dusky (or whatever you call it there’s so many names at this point) sharks tooth side by side. The alleged Meg to me had a lot more differences then any other bull shark found two days ago. If the mystery prevails, I’m gonna give it to some of my buddies from the CMM and they’ll figure it out because it’s better to look at it in person.3B3791EB-3CD6-409B-80EA-8B7F417CFFC4.thumb.jpeg.6845812b5ea8710d0621b81a19586c75.jpegI wanted to add this photo also because the alleged Meg on the left has a bit of root breakage, but it has a slightly different shape and different thickness than a dusky or whatever that other tooth is called. It also does have worn serrations and what looks to be a worn bourlette on close inspection. But I could be wrong I’m only an amateur after all so forgive me if I sound like I don’t know what I’m taking about. Thanks for the help guys! Should I post this on fossil ID as well?

Neat finds either way.  That beach gets picked over fast.   We went and was about 8 people up and down it.  Unless it's wave action after a hour mostly all are gone lol.  I wasn't aware how small of a beach it was.  Only live 20 mins from there.  Good luck on the tour.  I was going to do that last year but had to opt out at last second.

It’s definitely one of my only beaches I have access to right now in the pandemic. For that small beach, I did pretty good. About half of them I found screening with a large screen but it must’ve been a good day because tooth after tooth washed up that day. Thanks btw the tours down there can fetch some pretty good stuff I’ll probably post it when I get back.
