Shawna86
Found in NORTH CENTRAL MISSOURI, USA My mom and my nephew found this "rock" a few years ago. I was telling my mom about this group, she asked me to post this here. She's wondered for years if it could potentially be a Petrified heart, it has what appears to be valves on it. She doesn't know who she would contact to find out if it is a Petrified heart, so if anyone knows who to contact about this, we'd appreciate it. It weighs 1.92lbs. Thought you guys would think it was cool. Edited March 30, 2021 by Shawna86
Tidgy's Dad
Tis a lump of chert which has formed vaguely suggestive of the shape of a heart. 4 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Fossildude19
I agree. Not a fossilized heart. If you are not convinced, please take it to a local museum paleontologist, or a local university paleontologist. 1 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." jpc
As a museum professional who works on fossil bones and more, I have to agree with the others. Sorry, not a heart. There are very few fossilized hearts out there... only one that I know of, and even that one is not 100% agreed on by folks who have studied it.

Search online for "amoebic chert nodule" to see other examples. 1 1 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
Mahnmut
Welcome to the forum, sorry to agree that this is not a fossilized heart. My cousin once found a stone looking very much like a heart, including coronary arteries, just after my uncle, his father, needed to get a bypass. Also not a fossil, but a nice natural sculpture.
