FemurIHKH
Hello all, Was hoping for some help identifying some recent finds from the Charlie Creek in the Peace River of Florida. I'm still a novice with ID'ing so I was hoping for some guidance as to where I I went right and wrong. I believe they are, in order: a worn cetacean tooth, turtle nuchal scute, a fragment of stingray barb. The last set I am unsure of. Perhaps some bird clavicles? Thanks for any help you can give, Al
Fossil_finder_
Can you take a photo of the top of the "barb" it doesn't really look like a ray barb (at least not the ray barbs I have collected)
Harry Pristis
It's a "neural" bone, not a nuchal. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
PrehistoricWonders
1. Dolphin tooth. 2. Turtle Neural Scute. 3. I’d say Fragment of Cetacean Jaw/Rostrum 4. Either small Rodent/Bird/or Reptile Bones. Not good enough too ID those haha.

FemurIHKH
Thank you Fossil FInder and Familyroadtrip. A cetacean jaw fragment is actually pretty cool. Here are some additional pictures. 2 hours ago, Fossil_finder_ said: Can you take a photo of the top of the "barb" it doesn't really look like a ray barb (at least not the ray barbs I have collected)
FemurIHKH
Thank you Harry, that was very informative. The long beaked dolphin tooth fragment is probably my favorite find of that day. But the Neural bone is very neat as well.
hemipristis
Lovin' the bones! My guess would be small mammal, but I'll appeal to higher powers Edited April 7, 2021 by hemipristis 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.'
