Tucson Show Photos 2021

Troodon

Recommended Posts

The fossil show started yesterday.   If you are into minerals, beads and junk lots of opportunity to have fun.  However if you are into Fossils especially dinosaurs and shark, as expected, its been very disappointing.   Lots of key dealers in these areas are a no show although a couple are around.

This is the ballroom at the Tucson City Center Hotel.   Empty and not one fossil to be seen.   Only one small dealer with Green River teeth and another with Trilobites is the extent of fossils to be had.   For the first time since the show moved to this venue parking was not an issue;

Only photo I took at this venue

At one of the side tents a dealer was selling  material Ksar Metlili Fm material of Morocco that we've had discussions on this forum that most of this material is actually from the Kem Kem Group that N. Ibrahim identifies as Deckar Formation.  Just exercise caution.

I love the ammonite and it’s integrated display stand. It is a piece of art too.

Of the few fossil dealers that were around most were found at the Days Inn... Unfortunately little shark or dino material.

Some cool stuff out there. I can only imagine what it was like in the "before times". My little collection suddenly seems very inadequate.

No clearly Jurassic material mixed in with the Dekkar group stuff? I don't think I've seen Jurassic Sauropods or Ornithischians from Talsint material whenever they pop up for sale. If they exist, you'd expect them to pop up here.

There was a few Jurassic sauropod teeth on auction recently, but that was apparently Boulemane material, not Talsint.

Even as a reduced show, the diversity of fossils available at Tucson is much higher than many of the fossil shows I've attended. Thanks for the photo tour @Troodon

If anyone is going to the 22nd Street Show

this is a 2021 highlight....  the food court

very different this year being in April.  Temps are in the mid 80s so it gets warm getting around.

Great report Frank. I’ve never been to the show but just based on your previous trip reports it does look pretty sparse this year.

One day the Moroccan dealers should just see what's the record for a composite Spino. Maybe they could merge 10 teeth together into a 30-incher tooth!

Thanks for the report Frank. Sorry to see that there are so little dealers this time

Stay safe man

Today I went to the Keno Center Venue where you can find anything including large tents full of Moroccan specimens, some good and bad but mostly ugly.   The venue was moved because the locality it been for decades was repurposed to a multi-lane Drive-Thru Covid Vaccinations site.
