Found: Tully Limestone, Central NY, Middle Devonian.  I'm pretty sure it's a Bryozoan, no, maybe a coral...I don't know?   Perhaps Atactotoechus fruticosus?

Thanks

Greg

Hard to say, as it is cut down the middle.

I agree bryozoan, but not sure you can get farther than that.

After I posted...I saw how on the left hand tip...that I could possibly see what the "outside" of it would look...if I were successful in removing some matrix.  I was somewhat successful, but could only see between the rock and Bryozoan slightly.  It sort of looked like the following photo. Like I said...it was hard to see between the two, but, I think this is what the texture reminded me of.  The first photo is a little over 2 1/2" long and approx. 3/8-1/2" wide.

Here is a photo of the other side of the left tip that I exposed.  So this would be the outside of the Bryazoa...if indeed that's what it is.  Approx. size of entire exposed area is 3/8" L x 1/4" W x 1/8" thick including blurry areas.

I was wrong in the area it came from and have edited the information.  It is from the Deep Run Member near Seneca Lake, NYS.  I've found this:

I don’t think there is much doubt that it is a bryozoan, but getting very specific with bryozoan ID is often very difficult and requires thin sections (as shown in your attachments) or a detailed knowledge of the local fauna, I have neither with your specimen. Sorry
