Deborah Cosgrove
I found this petrified persimmon looking thing with arrow heads and other things at an auction. It is very hard like stone. Any ideas?
Ludwigia
Looks to be manmade judging by the perfect borehole in the bottom of it, but I've no idea what it might be. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Deborah Cosgrove
It is not manmade. The hole appears perfect but under my microscope it is not. Also the top part is completely natural and you can see into the cavity inside the hole.
Deborah Cosgrove
These are better photos. The first ones were wet from washing stuff stuck in the top.
Coco
Hi, A kind of modern seed ? It seems to have been eaten by rodents. LabRatKing
I believe this to be the seed from Crescentia cujete, the common calabash tree (or one of its relatives). It has in fact been gnawed upon by rodents.
paleoflor
Might have been a "sea bean" or drift seed... Did you get any locality data from the seller? https://www2.palomar.edu/users/warmstrong/pldec398.htm http://www.seabean.com/ 1 Searching for green in the dark grey. Deborah Cosgrove
Thank you for your replies. The items sold at auction were from a deceased persons estate and no history. There were arrowheads, sharks teeth and a pair of tigers teeth held together with beads like a talisman. Can any fruit petrify? How long would that take?
