Shells Found - Cochrane, Alberta

Recommended Posts

Hey Folks,

My five year old son found this 10lbs slab with shells embedded in it. There are more on the sides. I would say that each shell is about 3 inches long. What is the best way to clean this up? Should I buy a dremel?

That might be a good start unless you're willing to try it with hand tools. It also depends on how hard the matrix is, since dremels aren't all that powerful. Air scribes and abraders do the best job on something like this, but then you're looking at a huge investment. Maybe there's a preparation specialist in your area?

Thanks Ludwigia! I don’t think there are any specialists in the area. The matrix is hard. I will first try with the old hammer and chisel. I might try with one of my drills with a special tip. Thanks for the reply!
