savannaht
Hello, I found this on a walk along the Thames in London. It caught my attention due to the unusual shape. Can someone tell me if it is a bone or just a stone? It is not as heavy as one would expect a stone to be but I am not an expert. Many thanks, Fiona
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, I think this is a suggestively shaped piece of flint, or chert. 2 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." abyssunder
The conchoidal fractures are there but they are weathered/polished. I agree with Tim about a flint nodule. 2 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. Myrmica
I concur. Flint nodules take on all sorts of fanciful shapes.
